Bearing a name that begins with “also known as”, it’s clear that for aka Bobby, artistry comes first, personal identity second. The Texas-based songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist blends catchy, bedroom alt/indie production with his signature folksy, honest lyrical style.

Though he started playing instruments long before he even thought about writing, aka Bobby’s lyricism is first and foremost. Meticulously crafted poetry rides on the layers of twinkling piano, crunchy drums, lo-fi guitars, and choirs of harmony. Through his writing, Bobby is able to reflect on the ever-present beauties and battles of life. His honest, plain-spoken style of writing makes these reflections tangible to anyone. Bobby’s production is full of character, too. In his backyard-shed-studio, Bobby makes what he calls “human music”, abandoning the idea that polish and perfection is the goal, and focusing on what feels real to him.

As a child, aka Bobby’s soul was captured by music from day one. Growing up in a creatively gifted family, most of Bobby’s interests revolved around the arts. Music has always intertwined with his routine of daily life. But it wasn’t until years later, when teaching himself the drums, that the music bug really bit. Joining a grungy alt-rock band just a few months after picking up the instrument, Bobby quickly fell in love. But like most young bands, it didn’t last long, and Bobby bounced from project to project before deciding to pursue music as a solo artist. Loving the newfound freedom, Bobby quickly developed skills as a songwriter and producer, making music his own way. Now, as aka Bobby, he brings the lessons learned from years of musical experience to his goal of pursuing honest, truthful artistic expression.
